In less than a day Cecile`s foolhardy and selfish actions almost get her friend, his father and Alize killed but Tristan rather unceremoniously saves the day. Any troll less that pureblood are treated as servants traded like cattle and the human traders don’t fare much better. For the first time we get Tristan`s perspective where Marc explains more about their bond and how the only way he will ever feel comfortable with it is to win Cecile over the way married couples are supposed to do.Ĭecile begins to learn about the politics in the troll city and honestly it isn’t pretty.

She realises the only chance she had of escaping without her virtue being compromised is to leave as soon as she can but with any form of light being scarce it is slightly more difficult than it sounds. However, Cecile’s hope that the trolls would let her go is soon dashed when she overhears a conversation between Tristan and the King where he is ordered to bed her. We soon learn that Cecile was taken to break the curse which had plagued the troll city for five hundred years and both are oddly relieved when they fail. After Luke is paid she is taken away by Marc to be dressed and cleaned ready for her bonding in a few hours’ time, despite the trolls seeing she will set them free we have no idea what she will be setting them free from.ĭesire trying to escape Cecile doesn’t succeed and the wedding proceeds and one thing she notices about the trolls is that they look at her with desperate hope. Despite their hideous nature the trolls are quite kind hearted and have never raised a hand to Cecile, yet she knows she will never be truly happy in this place although she does aim to survive and eventually escape. Neither Tristan or Cecile is happy about the bond but neither really has a choice in the matter. She soon learns that she is there to wed the Prince: Tristan and best him children as the foretelling states and despite her fate Cecile is immensely curious about the trolls and their magic. When Cecile comes face to face with a tell she is horrified by its grotesque appearance, but he is far nicer and treats her better than Like has ever done. Once inside the mountain Luke tells her she has been bought by the trolls which live in the lost city underneath the mountain. It turns out that Luke is taking her to the forsaken mountain to his associates although we don’t know who they are. She doesn’t go without a fight trying to get to a neighboring farm, but a rogue branch throws her from her horse and into the waiting arms of her captor. As she prepares for her going away party she comes asking an old friend Luke on the road home to get family’s farm but very quickly things become darker when he basically kidnaps her. Review: In the opening chapter we meet Cecile a singer going the go to train with her mother a famous stage singer in opera.
